India’s Rise as a Space Superpower: The Incredible Story of SpaDeX (Space Docking Experiment)
A Think School video, published on 30 December 2024, on ISRO's SpaDeX space docking experiment. The presenter explains that two 220 kg satellites, a Chaser and a Target, will be launched and made to dock at very high orbital speed, which he says would put India in a club with the US, Russia and China. He gives three reasons he says it matters: servicing and refuelling satellites to cut launch costs, building toward India's planned space station by 2035 and moon missions by 2040, and the growth of a space business ecosystem, including a private company assembling satellites for ISRO, 1,000 crore rupees of funding for space startups and growth from 11 startups in 2019 to 250 in 2024. He ends with a defence of why India spends on space, citing weather forecasting, satellite ATMs and precision agriculture. Sponsor: the video says it is brought to you by Think School's own Communication Masterclass course, promoted mid-video. PARTIAL COVERAGE: this note is based on the opening, the sponsor segment, the docking explanation, the three benefit sections and the closing argument, and may not cover every point in the roughly 12 minute video. Figures, forecasts and national-pride views are the presenter's own and not independently checked.
