Sol Price: The Founder Who Taught Jim Sinegal, Sam Walton, Jeff Bezos, and Bernie Marcus
David Senra reads Robert Price's Sol Price: Retail Revolutionary and Social Innovator, tracing the founder of FedMart and Price Club and his influence on Costco. Selected passages connect focused customer groups, low operating costs, limited selection and teaching employees how to think. This is book-based narration and commentary, not an interview with Sol Price. These notes use the available public captions, which cut during the FedMart ownership dispute, not the complete 59:49 episode or its promised ending. Official Founders feed dates original episode #304 May 22, 2023; YouTube upload is March 22, 2024. Historical markups, wages, membership economics and legal rules are book claims or Senra's illustrations, not current retailer policies or audited comparisons. The source briefly includes wartime context, segregation and intimidation of a pharmacist as historical background. Quotes retain caption spelling, including Soul for Sol where present, and distinguish book readings from Senra's commentary.
